Location 1: Vengeri near Kozhikode

Vengery is a semi urban village on the outskirts of Kozhikode city. This is a model village in terms of Waste management, organic farming and friendship cultivation. It has a cluster of homestays to organize it’s Kozhikode city based tourism activities.

Trip highlights:
1.Guided village walk to learn more about the efficient waste management system being practiced here in each house, friendship farming and organic vegetable cultivation.
2.Heritage walks through Kozhikode city introduces the thousands of year old history of this city, it’s people and the whole story of colonial past.
3.A day trip to explore many interesting places in and around the city.

How to reach?
Nearest bus station is Kozhikode and it’s only 7 km away. Nearest railway station is at Kozhikode (Calicut) and that’s around 8 km away from the village. Nearest airport is at Kozhikode which is around 31 km from the village.

Regular tourist attractions: Beach hopping – Beypore, Kappad, Kozhikode beach, Tushagiri water falls



Location 2: Kannur

Kannur is known as the land of looms and lore for its rich heritage, folk-art forms, hand weaving industries and Theyyam. Kannur has something for almost anyone. It’s rich with beautiful and secluded beaches, tranquil backwaters, heritage structures, many cooperative initiatives to raise the quality of life of the common man, Theyyam and a wide range of agriculture related activities.

Activities to indulge:
1.Guided village walk with different themes like, agriculture, spice trade, women empowerment, climate change, mangrove conservation, local culture and myths, art and craft etc depending on guest interest.
2.Experience Theyyam and understand the social relevance of it.
3.Boating in the backwaters and learn about mangroves and the importance of mangrove forest conservation. Get introduced to hand weaving and try your hands at weaving
4.Cycling through the village with a local map helps us explore the village and the nearby localities

How to reach?
Nearest railway station is at Kannur and the village is around 10km from it. Nearest airport is at Kozhikode which is around 110 km from the village.
A new international airport is getting operational in Kannur and that’s only 30km from the village.

Regular tourist attractions: Series of historical fort (St.Angelo), museum, Kannur lighthouse. Serene sea side like Payambalam, baby beach. Can show your respect & patriotism to our Indian soldiers in Kargil war memorial.



Location 3: Kanhangad near Kasargod

Kanhangad is a coastal town in the northern most district of Kerala, Kasaragod. This northern most part of Kerala is culturally quite divergent from other part of Kerala. It’s clearly evident in Art, folklore, languages, food etc;

Activities Organized:
1.Guided village walk with different themes like, agriculture, nature conservation, local culture and myths, art and craft etc based on the interest of the guests.
2.Exploring heritage houses and learning about the life of people in these part of the world through stories.
3.Experience Theyyam and Yakshagana is something unique to this land
4.Community Kitchen not only teaches a lesson or two in cooking local flavours but it creates a binding between the guest and the local community. It also helps us understand, from where our food come, how it’s grown, how it’s collected and how it’s relevant in terms of nutrients and for a sustainable living.
5.Cycling through the village with a local map helps us explore the village and the nearby localities
6.Meet and interact with people who grow their own forest and dig horizontal tunnel to the hills to reach water sources.

Villages homestays are just 5-6 km away from the main bus station and railway station. Nearest airport is at Mangalore and which is around 90 km from the villages.
