Location 1: Thrikkaipetta village

Thrikkaipetta village is located in the hilly district of Wayanad in NorthKerala. It is 700 metres above sea level. This village is interesting for it’s vast paddy fields, diverse spice plantations, Bamboo craft units, women entrepreneurial units, rich flora and fauna in the hills close by and a great diversity of bird population.

Activities that you explore around:
1. Walk around the village to appreciate the place, people, way of life and local culture.
2. Explore the local art and craft.
2. Trek to the nearby Manikkunnu hills to learn more about the diverse flora
and fauna.
3. Capture the nature around in your camera.
4. Watch birds as you sit and relax in the lush green hilly terrain.
5. Visit and learn Bamboo Crafting at Uravu Bamboo craft unit

How to reach?
Nearest bus stand is at Kalpetta, which is the district headquarters of
Wayanad and it’s around 12km away.
Nearest railway station is at Kozhikode (Calicut) and that’s around 85 km away from the village (A drive of 2.5 hours to 3 hours in normal traffic).
Nearest airport is at Kozhikode which is around 98 km from the village.
The village is only 6-7 km off from the Mysore-Kozhikode Highway.

Location 2: Mothakkara village

Mothakkara village is also located in Wayanad in North Kerala which is at 750 meters above sea level. Mothakkara village is at the foothills of the mighty Banasura hills and an excellent place for trekking and camping. This village is interesting for the diverse agricultural practices followed and the vibrant culture.

 

Activities that you explore around:
1. Walk around the village to appreciate the place, people, way of life and local culture.
2. Trek to Banasura hills & find the diverse flora and fauna,
3. Stroll through the streams and watch birds as you relax in this serene hills.
4. Shoot the best of nature in your camera.

How to reach?
Nearest bus station is at Mananthawady and it’s around 16 km away.
Nearest railway station is at Kozhikode (Calicut) and that’s around 92 km away from the village (A drive of 3 hours to 3.5 hours in normal traffic).
Nearest airport is at Kozhikode which is around 104 km from the village.

Regular tourist attractions: Banasura Dam and Meenmutty waterfalls
